LIGHTING CONTROL - All of us are used to toggle on/off switches and rotary dimmers (which use resistors and create wasteful heat.) Today’s electronic dimmers use switching gates (known as thyristors) to dim light output while conserving electricity and extending bulb life.

LAMPS - EPACT is an energy law that has legislated many new energy efficient lamps to replace older models. It is important to match the lamp to the proper ballast or lamp life and output will suffer. Other considerations such as color rendering index (CRI), lighting level, voltage, glare, and aim lead to much lamp confusion. GFCI PROTECTION - ensures more worker safety. The much maligned GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) in duplex receptacle form has saved many lives by detecting a small (5 milliamp) difference in current flow. Common uses are kitchens, bathrooms, work areas, and outdoor outlets. If the outlet is tripped, find the cause before re-energizing - it could be a faulty cord, a worn out motor, etc. Continual trips and resetting will wear the GFI device out quickly. Only if it will not reset, with nothing plugged in, is it the problem; then you need to call qualified help - SUNELCO.
